Though Spell Weaver was my first series, it was not the only one, as you can see below.
Different Dragons 1
Abandoned at birth, DL has had a difficult life. Though he didn’t have parents, he at least got the name they gave him—sort of. Instead of the Korean original, an English translation ended up on his birth certificate. He was Different Dragon Lee—which explains why he goes by DL.
After aging out of the foster system, DL drifts from one place to another, rootless and alone. That all changes when he meets Ekaterina, a beautiful woman with oddly cold skin.
Their lovemaking has an unexpected effect on DL. He has strange dreams and exhibits signs of unusual physical strength. The fact that Ekaterina turns out to have unusual characteristics of her own doesn’t help matters.
Strangely attracted to the mysterious beauty, DL tries to defend her when an old enemy comes after her. In the process, he catches the eye of that enemy, who wants their blood—literally.
They might survive, but only if DL is willing to give up a key part of his own, newly discovered identity.
Different Dragons 2
DL is no stranger to the supernatural. His lover, Ekaterina, is a vampire. His best friend, Max, is a sorcerer in training. They live in an old house haunted by the ghost of its previous owner.
But when Max’s girlfriend, Adreanna, gets kidnapped by the Amadan Dubh, the faerie fool, the bringer of madness and oblivion, DL’s life becomes even stranger.
DL, Ekaterina, and Max race across other planes of existence in a desperate attempt to rescue Adreanna. But the quest is quickly complicated by the difficulty each of them has in keeping their souls in the their own bodies. And when they take in a child nicknamed Outcast, they fear they will learn that no good deed goes unpunished.
How much is Max willing to sacrifice for love? How much is DL willing to sacrifice for friendship? Rescuing Adreanna demands a cost that will push them to their limits—and beyond.
Different Dragons 3
Max struggles to control the inner dragon who developed from a corrupted runic ritual. Adreanna struggles to control her recently acquired magic. But it seems everyone’s luck is about to change. DL and Ekaterina are getting married.
The fact that a number of faerie royals will be attending is nerve-wracking enough. But when Vlad the Impaler, the uninvited and presumed dead father of the bride, shows up, bloodshed seems unavoidable.
Best man Max loses control of himself and eventually disappears. DL must mount an expedition to find his friend before whatever is controlling Max leads him to commit great evil.
The appearance of a mysterious girl named Merlina, who may or may not be a reincarnation of Merlin, could be a blessing or a curse. So might the intervention of old Slavic gods.
But when the very first vampires become involved, the situation can only end in blood—lots of blood. The question is no longer who will die, but how many.
Soul Salvager 1
Chris holds one unenviable record—he’s the only person in modern history who has sold his soul to the Devil—accidentally. He finds a way to break the pact, but he hesitates. In order to do so, he has to give up Amanda, the woman he loves, because he met her as part of the deal. She stays in the Devil’s clutches so that Chris can go free.
But Chris won’t accept that outcome as final. It’s hard for an agnostic like Chris to fight Satan because the best weapons against him are faith-based. But Chris does the best he can, becoming an expert in herbal and other defenses against demons.
But it’s one thing to keep demons out of his business. It’s quite another to rescue someone from Hell—which Chris has no idea how to do. But with the help of a few friends, he trudges forward, anyway.
Can love truly conquer all? In order to find out, Chris will have to risk his life—and maybe even his soul.
Soul Salvager 2
Chris has made a kind of career out of poking Satan in the eye by rescuing everyone he can from Satanic pacts.
There’s just one problem with that—sometimes, Satan pokes back!
Chris gets a frantic call from Steve, his first rescue, who now teaches at their old high school. Mysterious mishaps point to demonic activity. Chris agrees to investigate, though he’s skeptical.
What he finds is so much worse than what he imagined. Satan is not only involved, he’s road-testing a new way of fulfilling pacts that could increase their numbers exponentially.
However, Satan’s activity isn’t random. He isn’t just interested in miscellaneous high school students. He wants to catch Chris himself—and he just might have the bait to do it.
Soul Salvager 3
Chris now believes in God, which makes him a more formidable adversary for Satan. He’s even agreed to an archangel’s request to take a position overseeing a school in Purgatory. Given his lack of teaching and administrative experience, he’s not sure how much good he can do there, but he’s willing to try.
Unfortunately, the being he thinks is an archangel turns out to be a fallen Watcher now in league with Satan. And the school isn’t a place to help deceased high schoolers toward redemption. It’s a school in which living teenagers lured by Satan learn black magic.
Somewhat familiar with the wiles of demons, Chris manages to find loopholes in his agreement that allow him to bring in some of his friends, particularly ones who know magic, to help. But trying to convince teenagers not to trust demons without ever speaking out against demons or otherwise subverting the curriculum of the school is a pretty tall order.
The biggest problem? If Chris breaks the rules, he and his friends will end up in Hell. But he knows he can’t let the students remain in Satan’s clutches, either.
What Chris doesn’t know is that the Watcher has a plan to destroy Chris’s new faith.
World Unbalanced 1
Guaritori—Garth to his friends—awakens after an accident to find out that twenty years have passed. The world he knew is dead. In it’s place, he finds a world in which advanced technology no longer functions, but magic has become much more powerful.
Garth, who has no magic of his own, needs powerful allies to survive. But in a world in which nothing is what it seems to be, the person who rescues him may turn out to be his worst enemy.
Whispers from Olympus books need not be read in any particular order.
Athena manipulated the circumstances of Theseus’s birth, making sure that his mother slept with both a god and a king on the same night. Theseus seemed destined for greatness. But as even the goddess herself admits, fate is a road with many forks in it. She sees Theseus as a king that will raise Athens to greatness—but he could just as easily be a failure.
To achieve his best destiny, Theseus can never stop fighting, first to win the throne and then to keep it. Rival kings, monsters, and even angry gods strive to stop him.
But victory in such confrontations is only part of what Theseus must do. Can he master his own passions enough to accept the woman he loves being stolen by a god? Can he resist the temptation to emulate his recklessness of his best friend? Can he avoid the hubris that would be a natural part of being Poseidon’s son?
The path of fate may have many forks, but for Theseus, it is more like a maze than a path. Getting lost in that maze is all too easy.
Orpheus wants nothing more than to be a musician and bring joy to his fellow mortals with his music. Later on, he also wants to find love. He has no interest in inheriting his father’s throne and ruling over warlike Thracians.
Jason wants to regain the throne stolen from his father at all costs. Along the way, he wants to win glory in battle. For him, finding love takes a distant second place to being a famous warrior and ruler.
Unexpectedly, the gods conspire to entangle their destinies. Despite their differences, they become friends. However, it will be nearly impossible for both of them to achieve their goals, easy for both of them to fail.
But forget about success. Mere survival requires them to navigate through the radically different schemes of competing gods, defy rival kings, and even face the powers of the Underworld. Will they be up to the task?
